Big Beautiful Noses

May 29, 2008
Cosmetic surgery is becoming more accessible. Due to this, beautiful big noses will slowly disappear. I find this a pity, because people will start to resemble each other more and more and the average will turn into the prevailing standard. This series of photos is an ode to the prominent nose. The series Prominent Profiles can be viewed on my website from today on. And will be published in Volkskrant Magazine this Saturday.

Sport Equally Illuminated

April 16, 2008
Today the touring exhibition ‘Sport Gelijkwaardig Belicht’ (Sport Equally Illuminated) will commence. Six photographers, including myself, have contributed to this project which is about disabled sports. For this series, I have chosen the sportsmen as point of departure. I have taken the photos just after their exercise, when the traces of their effort are still visible in their faces and on their skin. The exhibition is an initiative of the Ministry of Public Health, Welfare and Sport.

Farmgirls in the Rabobank

November 27, 2007
The series The Last Farmgirls have been given on loan to the Rabobank Utrecht. Eight portraits are on show in the Leidsche Rijn branch. During the construction of Leidsche Rijn, the largest Vinex district in the Netherlands, many farms disappeared. This series is an indirect reflection of the battle for our countryside. In this way, the Rabobank recalls the farmgirls, if only for a bit.
